How To Share Your Knowledge and Make Money!

English was one of my favorite classes while attending school. Not only did I excel at grammar and spelling, but I found I was a natural storyteller. Spinning yarns about the people I met, the places I visited, and the products that I used came naturally.

While looking for ways to make money while working at home, I came across a site named Squidoo . It is a community of writers and storytellers who compose articles (called "lenses") using their own personal knowledge.

Who Writes on Squidoo?

Content platforms, such as Squidoo, attract both aspiring writers and professional authors who wish to share their work to the online world. Because of the large number of articles published on Squidoo, the search engines rank the "lenses" (articles) in higher positions than you would get on your own blog or website.

So How Do I Make Money?

1. Google Ads

Squidoo runs Google ads on your articles. Half of the money earned from these ads goes into a 'pool', which is then distributed among writers on Squidoo. Not everyone will get part of the ad money. Instead, it goes to the writers of articles who have the top ranking and traffic.

The ad money is miniscule, to say the least.  You will have to have hundreds of lenses that rank in the top 1% or so to make a noticeable income.

2. Affiliate Marketing Programs

To make actual money, you'll need to participate in Squidoo's affiliate marketing programs, such as Amazon, Cafepress and Ebay. Squidoo has a good relationship with these programs, so you'll receive more of a commission than if you sign up with them yourself. When you write an article, add a complementary product or two from one of these affiliate programs, and you'll receive part of the commission when you make a sale.

If you already have affiliate accounts with the above programs, or with others like Allposters.com, you can use these as well in your lenses. You'll receive all of the commission when you make a sale.

What Do I Write About?

The best articles to write are about items that you personally own. Whether it is a book, washing machine, an iPad, or pair of shoes, the only requirement is that the article is original. Other topics that do well on Squidoo include:

• Entertainment
• Seasonal articles
